Ivan Ruiz Machado studied double bass in Cuba at the Escuela Provicial and National de Arte Santa Clara and Havanna. Since 1994 Ivan lives and works as an independent artist in Vienna, Austria.

His speciality is his incredible flexibility as a musician and his impressing miscellaneousness reflected by the list of artists he used to work with already at live concerts and at recordings.

Lionel Richie, Pucho Lopez, Grimus Band, Black Rose 4tett, Ayman, Sandra Pires, Celia Mara and Potencia X, Fernando Paiva Quartett, Madrid de los Austrias, Son Rumberos, Harri Stojka, Leopolding Flemming, Chester Washington, Alegre Correa, Dorretta Carter, Tripbox, Iris Camaa, Sertab Erener, Eldis La Rosa and other.

Beside his music career he also enlarged his field of music work by the build-up of his own studio “Papovox” in connection with “Camaa music + art”. There he works as a producer, arranger, composer and makes recordings for artists e.g. Iris Camaa (Chameleon, Soul’s Embrace), Hubert Tubbs, Milagros Pineira, Lynne Kieran and other musicians.

Ivan Ruiz Machado is well known for his distinctive style of music. He loves to mix latin rhythms according to his Cuban roots with all kinds of music (Soul, Funk, R'n'B, Jazz). This mixture is an significant element of his composings and interpretation. He is a impassionate and virtuosic bass player as well on electric bass as on double bass. He is well known in the music scene all over the country. As a keyboarder he impresses with his great feeling for touching harmonies.
