Iván was born in Santa Clara, Cuba. When he was eleven, he started studying classical double bass in his hometown. In 1984, he switched to the Escuela Nacional de Arte (Official Music-High-school) in Havana. In 1993 he moved to Vienna (Austria) where he started working as an independent artist until 2009. Later, he moved to Madrid, his new hometown, where he currently works and lives.
The long and diverse list of artists with whom he has played - on stage, but also in several records and TV-productions-proves his exceptional musical versatility and his capacity to switch to different styles. Iván has collaborated with first-line musicians such as:

Throughout his career, Iván has consolidated a sound interpretation and developed outstanding arrangement, composition and production skills. Iván Ruiz Machado combines Soul, Funk, R´n´B, Jazz and Latin rhythms in an exceptional way. Every time he plays, Iván takes us to his unique musical world through his Cuban roots, of interpretation and composition.
